Privacy Awareness Week 2019

Science Park of the Philippines, Inc. joins in the celebration of the Privacy Awareness Week or PAW!

The PAW is a national celebration of data privacy rights in the Philippines, aimed at advancing protection of personal information while ensuring the free flow of information.

Pursuant to the Presidential Proclamation No. 527, the PAW is annually observed every last week of May by public and private institutions, with the National Privacy Commission acting as lead agency.  This year it shall be held from May 25 to 31.   This year marks the third time we officially celebrate PAW in solidarity with other members of the Asia Pacific Privacy Authorities (APPA) and privacy adherents all over the world.

This year’s theme, “Protecting the Digital Filipino: Accountability, Compliance & Ethics in a Data-driven Philippines,” focuses on boosting privacy safeguards and raising the sense of accountability, compliance and ethics of entities that handle personal data. This, with a view to fully harnessing global economic opportunities in an era of digital transformation.

We enjoined everyone to cultivate the habit of privacy mindfulness in our workplace, home and community.
