What are the CSR efforts of SPPI amidst the COVID-19 pandemic?
COVID-19 is unquestionably more than just a health crisis. This pandemic is taking lives and many of our fellow Filipinos are facing hardships more than ever as we all continue to fight to overcome the spread of the Coronavirus disease. But when one is called to help, it is our moral and civic duty to extend whatever we can to contribute. Amid these conditions, with strong support and solidarity among leaders and companies, Science Park of the Philippines (SPPI) was quick to respond to keep people healthy and safe!
Rice Distributions
As millions of our kababayans have to stay home because of the lockdowns, SPPI is helping underprivileged Filipino families and host communities by distributing rice, the staple food of the country. Last April 5, 2020 more than 680 sacks of rice were apportioned to 17 barangays and host communities in the provinces of Laguna, Batangas, and Bataan for around 300 households.
Since a spike of COVID-19 cases has emerged in the past few months, SPPI continues to extend its efforts to host communities in Cebu City. Last May 5, rice donations reached the barangay of Basak Lapu Lapu, Cebu where more than 40 sacks of rice were donated to 400 families in the area.
Key Takeaway
Whenever our fellow Filipinos are in need of a helping hand, the efforts of SPPI during COVID-19 does not stop here. The company is grateful to be given the opportunity to serve our kababayans as the country continues to heal as one.
Furthermore, we would also like to thank all the generous individuals who took part in the stream of donations for the #WeHealAsOne project. We draw strength knowing that we have like-minded partners who are willing to serve.
